The main ways I deal with distractions;
- Use my natural rhythms. I'm a morning person so I get up early before everyone else and do an hour or so then when it's quiet. I don't see why this wouldn't work at the other end of the day if you're not a morning person. I'm useless in the afternoons so that's when I do brain numbing stuff like housework.
- Do jobs I dislike first and get them out of the way.
- Have a break every hour. I usually do something that takes me away from the computer like getting the mail, ironing something, putting the bins out, cleaning something up.
- I find having a list of what I want to achieve for the day and then ticking them off motivates me and keeps me focussed.
- If there are other people around, I'll take myself off into another room and shut the door.
