why signature on forums is significant?

Postby spicy.girly01 » Thu Sep 18, 2008 1:47 am

Hi everyone! I am a newbie on SEO world. Does signature really matters on posting on forums? My posts on other forums were deleted because of the signature that I used. How can I make signature that will not look like a spam? Posting of links on forums is one of the strategies to have back links on the website we promote right?

I would add your name to your signature file along with your link. I don't try put too much in mine.

You will always want to read the rules before posting a new forum on the signature guidelines.

As long as your signature isn't violating the rules of the particular forum you are on then you can put whatever you want in it.

The biggest rule of thumb is NOT to spam forums. And don't post one line replies just to get your signature shown.

Some times some forums may delete pornographic content related signatures. Then some times if you use signature imitation your link will remove. So you have to setup signature at the Control Panel. Its depend on the forum.

Reason for signature removal will result from the post itself not by the signature.

I agree with above posters. Forum signature can bring lot of traffic to your site.
But your posting should be;
-Relevant
-Useful
And also forum signature can bring quality backlinks.

Maybe you just were pposting in forums where signatures were not allowed, or just posting nonsense responses...

Every one know that forum signature supports webmasters to get backlinks. But remember these backlinks are PR0 most of the time. But still it has a value.
Major advantage of forum signature is that you get referral traffic from it. Most of the time these traffic can easily converted to sales.

Very True..I completely agree with the members of this discussion. One should follow the Forum Rules and must be aware of what exactly is being discussed. To maintain a good signature, check the Forum Rules and try to insert a BBCode to make it more comfortable.

Forum Signature Rules & Guidelines?

Postby FreeCashPro » Sun Mar 29, 2009 3:36 am

I'm a big signature kind of guy. If I have something general to say or programs I would like to promote then I usually feel free to add them to my forum signature (after reading the forum signature rules and guidelines.)

Incidentally, I can't seem to find any signature rules or guidelines posted for THIS VERY forum. I've searched (that's how I ended up at this thread.) Can anyone inform me, or point me to the appropriate thread regarding signature rules and guidelines? Thx.

Ok, back to the specific topic of the thread. I am an administrator and/or moderator at several large (really large) forums. I've thought about this very issue and came to the conclusion that signatures do very well if a human is reading them, but, search robots will usually load the lo-fi / text only version of the forum (depending upon what software the forum is based upon) that does not include signatures in the "display" for the robot (only post body text.) Hence, from a SEO point of view (though I may be wrong) I don't think signatures are ever even "seen" by the robots.

I'm fairly new to the SEO game and the most frustrating part is getting conflicting reports. In regard to signatures, I have heard both reports - forum signatures help with SEO by creating back links and that they don't do squat. so...
