To start, I would work on your copywriting on the sign-up page and really focus on increasing subscribers. It really is a numbers game. With an expected response rate (in general) of 1/2 to 1 1/2 percent... you need to continuously build on the readership.

The headline describes what they can do, but it doesnt include a compelling reason to do it. This free headline analysis is really fun and should prove helpful:

Just tweak it a few times and watch the different scores you get and what they mean. There are a couple more great resources here:

Oddly enough, you even have to pre-sell FREE stuff! People are busy, and people have a LOT of email, so your copy has to convince them to take that action.

What about "Home Business Connection" instead of "our Newsletter" in the headline. Does that affect the score?

Yes, I looked them over and they look fine.

One thing I found was that sending shorter, more frequent, emails increased the response rate. You might test some things like that with your market too.

It actually drops to 35% if I change the wording.

I'll test out shorter, more frequent newsletters and see if it helps.

I only have had two. My original was:

Claim Your Subscription to the Christian Home Business Connection Newsletter.

Then, I changed it to:
Claim Your Subscription to our Newsletter and receive free information that will help you get started in your very own home business.

First one rated 27%, second one 40%

If I change it to "Claim Your Subscription to the Christian Home Business Connection Newsletter and receive free information that will help you get started in your very own home business.", it goes down to 35%
