PHPBB forum question

Postby MommyEnterprises » Thu Jul 05, 2007 11:17 pm

Okay, I want new members to send an email to me or something so I know they are real and not a bot. I have seen other members do this in their welcome message to the new user.

Anyone know how to find the welcome message?

What I do is go to Admin panel > Configuration and check it so that the Admin has to enable account activations. That way I can manually approve all new registrations, and of course remove spam registrations.

But to find the email messages associated with your forum, go into your forum directory then: language > lang_english > email and all of the email files are in that folder. Edit them in a text editor (like Notepad).

there is a MOD out now that has been 100% effective against the register bots so far.

it is called the RAC MOD.
found here:

I have installed this for many clients and so far no bots have been able to get past it.

you still have to contend with humans registering to post spam, but there are ways to cut that down as well.
