making sales on the first page of google

I have recently hit the first page of google for my main keyphrase for my store. I have yet to make any sales.


Does anyone know how long it takes to start seeing sales once you are on the first page of google?

There's no real answer to that question, because, getting to the front page of Google does not guarantee any of us success - or rather, sales.

Just keep working at it, and coming here and reading and learning and asking questions. Your site is looking great and I think it's a pretty cool niche.

I see you have an authority listing for 'kids chairs' - which is excellent. Checked the keyword and it gets a lot of traffic, so you should be getting some sales. What are your traffic stats saying: what phrases are bringing in your traffic, what browser, sites, how many unique visitors are you getting, etc..?

If you have cpanel for your web host, you can get all this stats info thru there - I use Awstats in cpanel for my stats.

The site itself looks fine. If you can provide your unique visitor stats that will help. The theory is that you average 1 sale for every 200 unique visitors to a site.

Awesome info, Traci! I had no clue about the sales vs unique visitors. Reading stats is something I really need to learn how to do.

Congratulations on your search engine optimized site! Very nice. I think now that you have accomplished this top ranking, after seeing your stats and analyzing what visitors are clicking on, this may be the time to test and tweak a few things to turn the visitors you are getting into buyers.

There may be some threads here in the forum with guidance about testing and tweaking various aspects of conversion. It also may just be a matter of time and numbers, with more people coming to your site, the more likelihood of sales.

the first page doesn't mean anything, when the keyphrase is not one that people who want to buy use.
If no one with the intent of buying uses this keyword, then the chance that you get a sale from this is low.
Check out what you can do on the page this search result is pointing to in regard of conversion optimization.
