For those of you that noticed the forum was down yesterday (Sunday, Oct 15th), I appreciate your patience. I closed the forum temporarily to make backups and install a few modifications.
At first glance, two of the most obvious changes are shown in the screen shot below: 1) The category description is showing beneath the category header, and 2) there are category-specific sponsored listings displayed (which each open in a new browser window).
Another much-needed addition was the ability to opt-in or opt-out of Forum Notifications. While this was one of the most difficult modifications to the forum script, it was obviously one of the most necessary. You’ll find the option within your Profile if you are a registered member:
If you are a registered member of the SSWT Forum, you might want to double-check that your preferences are set to receive emails from the forum so that you dont miss out on future messages. You may find that your preferences are set not to receive notifications by default. You can edit your preferences in .
Emails are only sent 2-3 times a month at the most, and include a digest of the most popular threads along with any freebies or specials that are set up for registered members.
Another feature you’ll notice is the new Printer icon at the top of each thread:
Clicking the Printer Icon will open a lightweight print-friendly view of the thread you are reading. From there you can select which of the posts in that thread that you want to print, and set up custom pagination.
And finally, the option to report offensive posts or blatant spam. On each individual post at the forum, you’ll notice a “Report!” button at the top right. If you feel that post needs to be reported to the Moderators of that category and the Administrator, you can do that with one click:
Clicking this button will flag the post in the Moderators Control Panel, and also sends an email to the moderators of that particular forum category. The moderators can then take appropriate action, and all actions will be logged. This will help determine when a user should be deleted, as moderators can see a history of spam.
It will also help me to resolve disputes over deleted posts, and explain the reason as noted.
Be sure to let me know if anything is not working or displaying correctly on your end!
