Looking for the OFF Topic section?

Postby angelaaa » Sat Sep 09, 2006 1:08 pm

What do you think about having an OFF TOPIC section?

I don't know about you guys, but when I spend a certain amount of time on certain forums getting to know other people I grow to really cherish their opinions even on topics that don't have anything to do with the subject matter of the forum itself.

Any thoughts?

Topics that wouldnt fit under Home Office Talk or General Discussion? If so, give me some suggestions ;)

Well, when you lump Home Office Talk and General Discussion together it's not too clear that it's ok to talk about subject matter that has nothing to do with being a self starter. Does that make sense?

For example... I wouldn't feel comfortable asking everybody to share what they were doing on 9.11.2001 when our nation was attacked... ya know?

If you did have such a forum you could call it "Off Topic" or just "General Discussion" Or you could keep it how you have it and let folks know inside of the description that off topic discussion is welcome.

Just an idea, what do I know!? lol

Well Duh... to me!!

I need to open up my eyes a little.. lol :)

You already did all that and your first forum actually is an "Off Topic" forum.

In fact, I like how you encorporated it as an "introductions" and "off topic" forum all in one.

Ok, so maybe I should take down the poll.

No, it's a great poll actually - and I would be interested to hear what others think ;) . It's always great to hear your perspective!

But yes you are welcome to post something along those lines in the Introductions & General Discussions section. Perhaps I should separate them... anyone?

You'll find there's a new OFF TOPIC category in the Discussion Corner this morning ;) Let's give it a whirl and see how it goes!

Thanks Lynn ~

I think it's going to take off and it will definitely be more clear that off topic means everything not self-starters related.. ya know?

You can bet I will be checking it out every time I visit.

You just never know what people want to talk about..
