Google Chrome

Postby karynsolo » Sun Sep 07, 2008 12:36 pm

Recently I downloaded the new Google Chrome and sadly enough I uninstalled it pretty quick too. Here is my personal review of the new browser that is getting so much attention.

* The browser is very quick ( surprisingly so)
* The tabs do offer individual status versus tying it in with others.

* Boring interface arrangement
* Marks sites that are not infected as infected with malware ( BUGGY)
* Only allows for downward scrolling while on a site, no upward.
* Needs a lot of polishing

Though the browser was generally very fast and had a nice tab layout , that is about the only good I found with Chrome. If you have a website and you sell a product or service please make sure that Chrome is not marking your site as having malware. It has done this with several of our personal sites and they are either a word press site or joomla or php. We do not have any weird code at all in our sites. This bug could very well cost marketers a ton of money because sites are being seen as malicious when they are not. I have reported this to Google and have yet to get any kind of an answer on it.

Until the browser becomes more stable and more user friendly I will stay with IE and Firefox for right now. Have you downloaded Chrome? what do you think of it?

Sure would be nice if the software developers didn't consider all of us as Beta testers. This could have put out as a Pure BETA (which translates as don't use as a member of the public) not to be used expect for testing purposes. Then after a reasonable testing period it could be released as a stable version 1.0

I love the speed

It doenst render some sites all that well

One thing to remember is that is in the very erly beta will be quirky...I don't expect it to be at the level of sability as IE or FireFox...

But it has the potential to blow them all away.

Main reason I don't use Google Chrome - no Mac platform.
I use Firefox primarily because I can have it on both Mac and my PC. Plus, I love all the add ons that Firefox has and so no reason to have a third browser!
(I still also have IE on my PC & Safari on my Mac as secondary browsers)

Firefox is my primary browser - without any doubt. I tried Chrome on Windows, but since i work on a mac all day that pretty much killed it for me. I wasn't super impressed with it anyway. I'm sure over time it will evolve but right now I don't feel like it's anything special.

I really liked Chrome - but, there were certain things about Firefox that I just missed - I would love a mashup of Chrome and Firefox!! LOL
