BANS - I'm loving it!

Postby Lynn Terry » Mon Dec 03, 2007 10:46 am

During a conversation on my blog, several people asked my opinion on BANS, which stands for Build A Niche Store. It is a a new system for creating niche affiliate sites that was getting rave reviews.

I decided to grab a copy and check it out for myself. I LOVE IT!

You can read my ongoing review here:

Selecting BANS category from EBAY Hotlist Report

Postby Wes » Fri Dec 28, 2007 1:01 am

Hello Everyone,
I have a question concerning selecting categories for BANS site. I've done my keyword research based on the hot items list from eBay's hot item report. I'm not sure how to narrow down the list of categories I should select. In other words, suppose my BANS site is about boxing and the hot list gloves as a super hot item. Should I select Boxing as an overall category or should I list Boxing, then boxing gloves as a sub-category? Am I correct in assuming that your BANS site will search only what is listed in the category list on your site? I hope I'm explaining this clearly.

Thanks in Advance

Hi Wes,

Sorry, I don't have any advice on your questions but rather a question myself.

Where do you find the eBay hot item report? Are you talking about eBay pulse or some other report?

Thanks

I gave the links in my review, John - its under Seller Central.

Wes - your BANS site will list your category and any subcategories, so if you choose boxing, the gloves will be a product category on your site too.

Hope that helps :D

They are two completely different concepts, Rick. BANS is "Build A Niche Store". Auction Ads is a contextual advertising option, similar to Adsense.

eBay changes not good for BANS

Postby grahamg4 » Tue Sep 30, 2008 8:04 pm

eBay continues to make changes and a lot of BANS users are feeling the pain. From what I read on the BANS forum... eBay's terms are very vague and BANS users are being evicted without explanation.

I have 1 BANS site and never updated it after eBay brought the affiliate program in-house. I read all this recently as I decided it was time. After reading the posts, I decided eBay wasn't worth it.

I think BANS neds to diversify and turn in to a niche store building software and not just focus on eBay.

Depending on which version of the affiliate program you are using a lot of people were recently expunged that were using the Pepperjam Ebay affiliate program with no explanation as to why the decision was made.

I'm amazed every month at the number of new ebay signups I get through the BANS sites I have setup. I always just thought everyone and their mom had an ebay account!

Interesting ...

Didn't know that. I use PepperJam for the CPA stuff, but NOT the eBay affiliate part which I had already signed up with the eBay Partner Network itself.

I only have one BANS site up but am not really sure if I really want to deal with eBay's "off-the-wall" changes all the time anymore.

Thx!
