Where To Report Rip-Off Scam Companies

Postby karie » Sun Mar 11, 2007 3:23 pm

Hi!

I HATE to see the posts about people losing money to work at home scams, so I thought I would post where these scammers can be turned in! If you have spent money and time on a work-at-home program and now believe the program may not be legitimate, contact the company and ask for a refund. Let company representatives know that you plan to notify officials about your experience. If you can't resolve the dispute with the company, file a complaint with these organizations:

* The Federal Trade Commission works for the consumer to prevent fraud and deception. Call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357) or log on to www.ftc.gov.
* The Attorney General's office in your state or the state where the company is located. The office will be able to tell you whether you're protected by any state law that may regulate work-at-home programs.
* Your local consumer protection offices.
* Your local Better Business Bureau.
* Your local postmaster. The U.S. Postal Service investigates fraudulent mail practices.
* The advertising manager of the publication that ran the ad. The manager may be interested to learn about the problems you've had with the company.

Other good sites to report scams to are:

www.ripoffreport.com

www.scam.com

www.bustedscammers.com

www.scamradar.com

If people don't put up with these companies and report them, hopefully we can weed some of them out! Remember, don't pay for a work at home "job", but it is ok to pay for start-up costs to start your own home biz with a direct sales company, for example. Always research the company and check with the BBB to see what their reputation is like, and ask questions! BEST of luck to everyone with their home biz or work at home job!

All good sites. Scam.com has gone down hill though. It used to be a really valuble site. Now it's just a bunch of people with chips on their shoulder thinking that everything is a scam.

Godd ideas, but scam reporting will have little effect on the internet. There are too many jurisdictions involved to have any effect. Many willingly turn a blind eye to what is going on in their jurisdiction in order to generate cash flow to their citizens. Remeber the rule, Caveat Emptor! Kirk

Hi Calvin,

It can really help some though, especially if people see many, many complaints posted on a company such as at ripoffreport. It helps to give people a heads up on other people's experiences.

You can also complain to the credit card companies, the hosting companies and the domain registrar.

Taking up an issue with these could also lead to a resolution.
