Hello Tan & Welcome to the SSWT Forum :D

I host all of my websites with for $8.95 / month and register domain names at http://www.GoDaddy.com for $8.95/year. I dont have my own server or host my own sites, so I'm not familiar enough with what is involved to give you a comparision.

What is it that confuses you from the courses and ebooks the most? Do you already have your domain name registered and your web site created? Let us know where you are in the project, and any specific questions that you have.

Hi
Tan, if you are still looking for web hosting and/or domain company I found a few that are not to bad they also offer service to register your domain.

Finally they offer domain registering for $8.88 no matter how many years. Example if you want to sign up for 2 years its still just $8.88. Good Luck

I use Herwebhost too for the $8.95/month and use Godaddy to register my domain names.

I have my sites spread around on several different hosts. One I would reccomend is Lindsey Web Hosting: http://www.lindseywebdesign.com - plans start at $3.95 a month and I have never had a problem with uptime, etc. Excellent customer service too.

Free IP on the $3.95 plan? Sweet, not many offer dedicated Ip's anymore.

I've most recently added a basic plan at PROHosters.com to my hosting locations. $15 for unlimited domains, each with a unique ip. Decent service.

I use a number of reseller accounts. Best so far is httpme.com but they just got bought by voxextreme. They *say* there will be no significant changes ;)

Also good experience with crediblehost & dathorn. Pair & hostmatters are my 2 other homes.

PROHosters has not impressed me with customer service. Nothing terrible, just not up to par with other excellent hosts. So I've chosen to not put any *real* important sites there. Cheap, free ip's, their cpanel is a little cumbersome, requires a ticket to set up a new domain. Only rotating 7 days raw logs available, that's up from the previous 2 days, though. Not noticed any downtime but not monitoring close enough to tell.

Hi Tan,

Oops sorry I forgot to reply to your post.

Building a web site can be pretty difficult for someone who's new
to it. Actually, you could probably build a simple web site within
minutes.

But if you want a much more professional web site, it does
take quite a bit of "learning time" before you can do it. The
easiest way for a beginner to create a professional web site
quickly is to find a web host that also includes a SiteBuilder
with in-built templates. A good one to use, though a bit pricey,
is . But I'm sure there are other good ones out there.

When you use web hosts with these features, you can worry
less about learning how to build your web site and concentrate
on your content and building traffic.

I wouldn't recommend you host your site on your own server
unless you know what you're doing. It's best to just use a
web host since they have specialised equipment and facilities
that are needed by a web host.

Hope this helps,
Bina.
