What the heck is this code?

Postby AlexNewell » Thu Mar 12, 2009 9:36 am

Just working on the final formatting of our sales page and we came across this junk code a few times scattered through the page...

<a
href="http://www.tearsea.com/store/lp/index.php?action=order"
mce_href="http://www.tearsea.com/store/lp/index.php?action=order">

Our site is www.expertlistbuilding.com and we have no knowledge of what this is or how it got into our sales page. We have never heard of the web site URL in the code either!

Is this a problem? We are a bit puzzled and also wary of going in with "the delete button" in case we delete something that we do want!

Any advice or help welcomed!

( Very very welcome!)

Thanks

Alex

It almost looks to me like it could be code that was inadvertently included when copying code from somewhere else. There's some other code around it that might not be needed either.

Are you still looking for an answer? I can play with it a bit if you like. Let me know.

edited to add... I can just download the page and try some things without having to make any permanent changes and without access to your site.

Linda I'd be very grateful for some help on this.

:-)

Yeah we have the problem in our sales page - you could just look at the page and view source - one caveat we have a rotator so there are 2 sales pages but they both have the snaffu as far as we can tell.

And I think you're right in what you said we reckon this was introduced by a tech guy "upgrading" our site!

it's www.expertlistbuilding.com and there are a few instances of this down the page...

I wondered if this is just junk or something malicious?

Anyway we'd be very grateful for any advice or help

Thanks a lot!

:-)

I think it's just junk. I'll play around a bit and see what I get.

Thanks - I was rather reluctant to go in with my chain saw and cut it out in case I hacked away at the wrong tag...

Ugh!

:?

I just sent you a PM.

I think it's safe to remove that code (and some other code around it).

Don't chain saw right away... you can cover it over with some duct tape to see how that goes first. ;)
