My first thought was...if you have something that's simple and it works, then why both changing it? (not being harsh there, just wondering?)

Yes, stay with what you know and what works for you.
Learning a new program could make life more complicated. Anyway, check what the benefits of a new program are and balance the time you need to spend learning it against your productivity/income and decide if a switch is worth it.
I do all my stuff with Textpad
