Wish to be able to:

Would like a simple data base contact management system, for now free or low cost program that one could set up the program to notify me on a specific date I would set that I would like to be alerted when to call, email or send a snail mail postcard, print labels, do a mail merge for a letter possibly, to my customer, based on their birthdate for now.

If one could add fields, modify or delete fields would be good, but not totally necessary at this moment, just being able to have the customer name, address and birthday info, email, would be ok for now

Someone suggested outlook or microsoft works.........know nothing about the features of these or others...any suggestions or feedback on these.

Sounds like you're looking for CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software.

My question for you is are you looking for something that you host on your website or on your computer?

If you'd like something that you can host on your website (or server), there are a ton of solutions available -- just do a Google search for "CRM software" or check out HotScripts. I was also able to find which includes few desktop versions.

Not sure have not given it thought, about server based or desktpp based what are differences in each or adv | disadv of both
