Java plug-in doesn't works anymore in IE7

I recently bought a new computer that came equipped with IE7. Now, I suppose this version of IE is supposed to increase user security, but it also restricts the user from a lot of things. I also, have problems with java script, now. I switched to Firefox for when IE7 gives me a headache, but IE7 has the ability to "influence" other installed browsers as well. I am seriously thinking of replacing IE7 wioth IE6.

In building the new version of my site, I had to keep toggling back and forth between 3 browser versions to use the WYSIWYG editor (IE, Firefoxx and Avant)...all have their limitations
