We’re looking to hire a support programmer who can work with Sarah and Michael on customer issues. This includes investigating reports of abnormal behavior and fixing bugs, but it also means building tools to automate the work. When there’s time left to spare, you’ll also be helping out with features on the products in general, but the primary focus is on support.
We understand that this requires a special kind of programmer. Someone who gets a kick out of troubleshooting, tracking down hard-to-pinpoit issues, and empathizes with customers who are having trouble using our products.
You’ll predominately be working with existing code bases, some dating back to before Ruby on Rails was even released. We’d like to think that we’ve done a pretty good job keeping the applications well-tested and paid down the code debts as best we can, though.
You’ll also be working with some of the most engaged programmers, designers, and support people in the business without killing yourself on 80-hour weeks. Being based in Chicago is a plus, but not a requirement. We hire the best people regardless of where we find them.
We expect that you’re proficient with Rails and have a good understanding of Linux system administration. The salary cap for this position is $60,000.
