Freelance writer: Executive tech (Telecommute)
SmartBrief is seeking a freelance writer to help create its new daily e-mail newsletter on IT for executives from approximately 5 to 7 a.m. EST Monday through Friday. This is a deadline-intensive writing position!

The ideal candidate has worked as a writer or editor on a technology beat with multiple daily deadlines, and can write about technology with authority in layman's terms. This brief will focus on technology for business decision makers, covering systems & integration, IT best practices, social media, innovation and personal technology.
Applicants must have at least five years of experience writing about technology. This position is a telecommuting position. Applicants will be asked to complete a timed writing test.

Job Duties:
• Search for the best, most relevant IT news stories for business executives from a variety of online sources, including newspapers, magazines, blogs and trade journals.
• Summarize online articles, studies and other information for use in e-mail publications.
• Write an original 150-word analysis on deadline of the day's most important technology news for executives.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Proven writing skills. (A timed test is given.)
• Ability to write quickly and accurately on deadline, starting at 5 a.m. EST, Monday through Friday.
• Knowledge of Associated Press style.
• Facility for using online publishing tools.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
