Turning visitors into buyers

Postby Brismom » Mon Jun 22, 2009 8:32 am

My site has been on the first page of google for many different highly searched keyword phrases and is getting a great deal of traffic.

I am consistently posting to my blog, marketing my products and website, I use twitter, facebook, social media marketing, social bookmarking, article marketing, and more.

I update my site weekly with sales and featured products, etc.

To no avail I have not made one sale yet! I am at a loss of what to do.

I am wondering if I have picked too broad of a niche, if maybe I should narrow it down to maybe just kids rocking chairs, or kids wooden chairs, or something like that. Maybe I have too many products on my site and I need to specialize more on one type of kids chair.

If anyone has any thoughts or can help me with this I would greatly appreciate the feedback!!

Thanks so much in advance!

I think narrowing it down more might make the problem worse instead of better. I have to admit I'm really surprised that you've had no sales yet. I know you've been struggling with this for awhile now and it has to be so frustrating.

I see you added a summer sale, that's awesome! Hopefully that will draw some folks in. A lot of people do decorating projects etc in the summer time, so fingers crossed!

I'm not sure what to suggest for you here. Hopefully the sales will start coming in as often as the traffic ;)

With it being summer I might be talking up the kids outdoor furniture a bit more! When my kids were smaller I always had a hard time finding the toddler sized outdoor chairs.

We lived in small town nowhereville and it was hard to find anything like that. I would have loved a little picnic table for the patio at our old place!

well i had a big long post written here but the board ate it LOL

How is traffic coming along? Is it increasing that you've noticed? any particular trends leading people to your site that you can focus on to turn them into buyers?

The traffic is increasing yes, I am at like 807 unique visitors so far for June, and 1300 total visitors... Maybe that still is not enough traffic?

The keywords that are bringing traffic to my site are kids chairs, kids chair, kids rocking chair, chairs for kids, kids room furniture, chair, kids beach chairs.

Well with those keywords I would say they are definitely looking for kids chairs.... I'm not sure what else you can do but keep them coming back until they buy.

I did some quick keyword research and I think you'll need to tweak your keyword phrases for sure. Not many people are searching for kids chairs (approx. 19 as of right now).

Have you done keyword research? Try plugging in some new phrases into http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com and see what you can come up with.

Maybe look at playroom, kids furniture, outdoor furniture and then you can do long tail keywords and add other phrases to those. Keep working it, it will come together.

I also think your website needs a lot more content on each page. For example, on the rocking horse page, maybe write about how these items will bring back memories or if you had one as a child write about that. Oh and the category would probably be better as Rocking Horse for kids because rocking horse is a good keyword phrase because no one is searching for kids rocking horses according to Word Tracker.

One last comment I have is about your website links. Right now I see path and a number at the end of each link. Those would be better off if you used the actual phrase like rocking horses instead of path29. Does that make sense?

Hope this helps!
