The World’s Smallest Car

The Peel P50 was released in 1962 and 1965 by the British Peel Manufacturing Company. It was released in an ill fated micro car class and cost only $400 US at the time. Currently the smallest car available for the North American market is the Smart Car by Mercedes-Benz.

The Peel P50 was officially entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for being the smallest production car ever.

I'm sorry - but these cars look like you're driving with a roller skate up your butt! How in the world that's supposed to be safe (or comfortable!), I'll never know. *shakes head*

For DotComBum:
Did you take that photo? Were you in Nashville? That looks like it was taken at the Lane Motor Museum.

A friend at school has a smart car, she loves it in every respect except that they mandate the use of one brand of gasoline or something weird like that in the warranty. For me as a consumer I do not want to be charged an arm and a leg, liver and kidney to boot for a vehicle only to be told I have to use only one brand of gasoline. If I remember correctly it is something like shell Gas, which typically here runs higher than most per gallon price.
