I have been using different antivirus softwares.

The free ones ofcourse like Avg Free etc but i am satisfied with non of them.i do use McAffee and Quick Heal and few antispyware thats nice though.

Do you guys have any suggestions in this matter

I use the AVG free version for my antivirus and have been for 3 years or so. Very happy with it.

I used to be a Nortons freak but their software takes up ALOT of your PC's resources. Used to really slow my PCs down. Uninstalled it and huge difference. Same with McAfee.

It's very good software but they basically cater to the corporate crowd these days.

AVG + ZoneAlarm firewall (also a free version) and I'm a happy camper. :wink:

Hi, I've been using Norton for years, as it was already installed in our first Dell. It kind of takes over the computer, using a lot of resources, and changes configurations on its own. Never thought about using another though because of the fear factor & Norton's reputation.

AVG was recommended to Barney by another chimney sweep a while back, so I'm testing that on one of our computers, which doesn't have a large hard drive. So far, no issues, it uses very little space and resources, boots up fast, scans fast.

Along with the confirming good reports I'm hearing about this software, I'm probably going to switch the other 3 computers over when our Norton subscription expires.

My anti-virus software?

Macintosh.

Been using Macs all day every day since 1995. Have never installed any kind of anti-virus software, and never had a problem.

For the amount one might spend on PC virus software, one can buy a Mac.

But, don't buy a new Mac from Apple, unless you really need latest greatest cutting edge features. Very few people need the latest models.

Instead, buy 2 or 3 used Macs. I do all my work on a 10 year old $79 Mac.

Here's the math.

One New Mac: $1000-$2000

Three Used Macs: $79 X 3 = $237.

Why buy three?

If one breaks, toss it, plug in the next Mac. Downtime 5 minutes.

Say goodbye to repair hassles and expenses once and for all forever.

I've used www.macofalltrades.com to buy used Macs a few times, so far so good. I don't work or sell for them. All I can speak to is that they've treated me right a few times.

AVG - switching
