As the cowpoke rode into town he saw a large crowd at the other end of the street.
Curious, he rode on down and as he approached the crowd he dismounted his horse and walked up to the nearest person.
At this point he noticed that at the front of the crowd there appeared to be a hanging in progress.
The cowpoke asked the person next to him "Pardon me sir, but who are they about to hang?"
The sodbuster said, "Why, that there's Brown Paper Pete".
The cowpoke said, "Well ain't that a funny name for a fella? How come they call him that?"
"Cause he only wears brown paper clothes. His hat is made of brown paper. His shirt is made of brown paper. Even his pants and boots are made of brown paper."
"Well, I'll be darned. Ain't that somethin'. Say, what are they hangin' him for?"
"Are you kiddin'? Why, Rustlin' of course."
