Shopping cart vs 2CO & Pay Pal payment buttons

Postby Alan Petersen » Wed Oct 25, 2006 4:32 pm

I have PayPal and 2checkout accounts for payment processing so what is the advantage of using a shopping cart like (1shopping cart, cubecart, etc) then just have Paypal and 2CO pay buttons? Is it an image thing?

I use PayPal and 2checkout as well, without a shopping cart.

I think websites that routinely sell multiple items at one time would be better to use a shopping cart. Or if you have add-ons for your product or service, then a shopping cart would be the way to go.

Some cc processors also have their own carts built in so for any sites that use them, it is just one of the steps in the payment process.

Karen is right - it depends on if you are selling a single product/item or have more of an 'online store'. Another advantage to a shopping cart system is the fact that you usually have a follow-up system in place, which means that you are building a customer database while making sales ;)
