Alex M. stated on one of his teleseminars that having a photo of a person near and/or pointing to a sign-up form will increase opt-in rates. You can see an example on his site.

Have you run across any other examples of photos near opt-in forms online? It would be good to see how other sites are using this technique.

I think at times, marketers make up figures to suit themselves. I recall one being and eBook cover would increase your sales by 300% — which was never true and never proved.

I had another marketer tell me that by including your phone number on your secure order form, you could increase sales by 30%. Tried it. I don't think it helped.

But I do believe the onus is on the individual to to their own testing. There are lots of split testing scripts available, and no reason why a person can't test these things themselves.

Thanks for your feedback - you both make great points. I do agree the sign up on Marketing with Postcards is a bit over the top, especially with the audio. I can't stand audio or video that automatically starts playing.

Every market and website are different so yes testing is key.
