Where can I get photos for my website?

Postby Tom » Sat Jan 14, 2006 8:30 pm

Does anyone have a suggestions where I can go to get photos of people talking on the phone to post on my website. I am looking for a place to get them that is free or low cost because it is a commercial site. Any suggestions is welcome.

Hi Tom,
Hop on google and search "royalty free pictures". You will get alot of results, some free and some you have to pay for. That should keep ya busy for a while.

Is this an obvious answer?

Seems like most everyone has a phone, so all you need is a digital camera, right?

Just make sure you get a release from the subject.

From a Google result:

Image may be scaled down and subject to copyright.

I'ts less expensive to take your own even if you have to buy a camera in most cases.

Robert,

It's not being picky, just careful.

Royalty Free does NOT mean free to use. many stock photo sites have royalty free images that cost money to use.

Some like http://www.captured.it/view-copyrights.html even though being copyright protected allow use if you follow certain procedures.

It;s not all cut and dried.

I use http://www.istockphoto.com

However, I want to comment on your request. You wrote "that is free or low cost because it is a commercial site"

IMO, because it's a commercial site you want something original. You don't want anyone to think that you're cheap or stole a photo because everyone is using the same one.
