Do browsers suck at displaying images correctly?

I just noticed that Safari shows images slightly darker then they really are.

Safari recognizes the ICC profile and has color management.

I was really wondering why that is.

With most images this doesn't matter much. But one image, where the face was in a slight shade, it ruined it.

I compared the original JPEG and the same JPEG/also same size, and seen through Safari it is darker than seen through Adobe Bridge.

My System is color managed, my screen calibrated, the image is in sRGB, has an ICC profile.

It has to be the browser

Yep ... It seems so. I've found that the different browsers DO tend to show websites a bit differently. EVEN colors might look a bit different if the sites aren't using web safe colors in their design. Not ALL colors will look the same in different browsers.
