Quick Photoshop question

Postby susapra » Tue Sep 16, 2008 10:56 am

Must be a really beginner's question but here it goes:

How to color adjust multiple layers in Photoshop?

When I select multiple layers the "Image -> Adjustments" and "Filters" menus are grayed out. If I convert the layers to Smart Object, then only "Shadow/Highlight" adjustment is available, but this is not what I need.

Is there a way around this?

Hmmm... here's a method. But not really layers though...

You can make copies of those layers and merge them into a single layer. You still have the original layers as backup. And the new one you just merged, you can try the Image adjustment on that.

Hi Susapra,

depending on the version of Photoshop, you should be able to create an Adjustment Layer.

Simply, this like a filter applied to a transparent layer that affects every layer below it.

You can create an Adjustment Layer (if you have a suitable version of Photoshop) by choosing the menu item:

Layer>New Adjustment Layer> (the effect you want)

This only works for the items that can be found in the Image>Adjustments menu.

Depending on what you are trying to achieve, there are other solutions.

I would be happy to create a tutorial video for you if this would be helpful.

Hope this helps,

Dominic

Well, I have a HP PSC 950 all-in-one printer. The color ink cartridge was out quite a long time ago and I have been using black ink cartridge since then. Today I replaced my black ink cartridge with a new one but the printer displayed an error message "Incorrect color cartridge installed." I tried to fix it by cleaning the color cartridge contact but it didn't work. Can I remove color ink cartridge from my printer?
