How do I get a smooth line finish in Photoshop?

Postby mindy1978 » Tue Dec 12, 2006 5:02 pm

I am very new to photoshop. I cannot figure out how to get a smooth finish to a shape that I am using on my website. I want to create headers and footers for menu boxes on my website. But the lines are not smooth. You can take a look on my website at:

They are the 3 boxes in the right column.

Thanks so much!

Try making the images 4x larger than you need. Then once you have don this, resize them to the right size. It will have the effect of compressing the pixels and will make the images look less jagged.

Hi Mindy,

If you're using Photoshop 6 or higher, here's something that might help you

When you use the rounded rectangle tool, adjust the radius (located in the upper tool bar) to 20 or above. THis will give you a smoother curve to your edges can also take advantage of the Unsharp Mask tool (under filters - sharpen - unsharp mask) Try these settings: Amount 35% - Radius -1.0 pixels - Threshold 0)

Have a Safe and Prosperous New Year!
