Google Adsense - You now must have a Privacy Policy

Postby kenmac » Wed Mar 05, 2008 9:40 pm

Hi All - Just read this on another forum.

Recently, Google has changed their TOS for adsense publishers.

They are now requiring you to have a privacy policy on any website that displays adsense ads.

PLEASE READ SO YOU DO NOT LOSE YOUR ADSENSE ACCOUNT!!!!

Here are the changes straight from Google if you care to verify!

https://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms

See Section 1. and reference the last couple sentences.

Thanx Ken!

Wasn't really aware of THAT one. Just more work as usual and AdSense is finally starting to be more hassle that it's worth these days for me.

At Eric Giguere’s Personal Blog he has a privacy policy "plugin" for WordPress ...

Thanx again for the "heads up"!

Wow, thanks Ken. I accepted the new terms and didn't even bother to read them.

I would have never known if you hadn't pointed it out. I didn't know what a privacy policy should look like, so I did a google search and I found this sample that you are allowed to use freely on your site, if anyone needs one.

Fantastic. I have been distracted a little lately and this did not even register on my radar. The power of a good forum at work

Thank-you

Shaye :D

I'm so glad you posted this because I am going to start using Adsense and did a lot of reading on it this weekend. Now I have a privacy policy in place on both my weight loss/fitness website and blog and I have one more blog to add it to. I *think* the privacy policy that I have will work but if you care to take a peek and let me know if I'm missing anything, I would appreciate it.

It's linked at the bottom page of http://www.LosingItandLovingIt.com

Thanks!

Oh and I meant to also mention that I am quite shocked at how many blogs and websites that use Adsense don't have a privacy policy.

I always put a privacy policy on my sites, many people will not email me or even consider purchasing unless I have one posted. Cannot blame them as nobody wants spam and certainly they want to know that what information they give me will be protected.
