I retract the part about missing code. Because just now I tried it again with a different campaign and new code and it worked. Thanks for your help. Will now see if this monetizes. :)

As someone who owns several dated affiliate product sites, the type that got dumped by google a few years ago, but they still get a few visitors and generate some adsense and aff money. I really feel they are not worth working on anymore.

When I happened on this auction ads report ... -study.htm

I thought these old sites would be perfect for testing auction ads. So yesterday I signed up and placed code on some pages. But much to my suprise i noticed that most of the time either the ads were not working or they were showing the wrong products.

As of today Sunday 15.09 GMT I do not see the proper ads (not my site, infact my old sites are so bad Id be embarrased to publish them here)

Auction Ads is actually having a reporting problem caused by eBay this morning, they inform me they should have it fixed soon, so everyones ad units are showing the wrong products right now. Try doing a search at ebay for your product, then plug the search results into the auction ads converter, add a picture and text to the top central area of your context or page, plug in the auction ads, this will give your viewers the product right under their nose which increases clicks and sales.

Here let me give you an example.. visit this page to see ... boxes.html

Its important to also note that when you use the url converter from auction ads, you will not get impressions

on your products but clicks will still be calculated.

I do this on all my pages for a couple of reasons.
1st it grabs the customers or content readers attention
2nd click throughs and conversions are much higher
and lastly for the very reason you mentioned above... because occasionally there could be a reporting issues

and if there is you are safe :)

Also note the above site is just a dummy site set up for educational purposes... so don't mind the boring layout :)

Michael when I clicked this page I saw the wrong products in the ads, so clearly auction ads still have a problem.

I saw ads for ipods etc and not cat litter boxes.

Fiachra Kavanagh,

The ads are showing up cat boxes on my screen... they had a problem over the last weekend. Its fixed.
Not sure what the deal was, a type of reporting problem.

& did you read my last message about utilizing your own ad to ebay search for your product? as show on my page in the example there.. that will really boost up your sales through AA.

Hello nar321,

I couldn't tell from your last post if you were successful in putting Auction Ads into your sidebar or not so I'm posting this response assuming you were not successful with that part.

nar321 wrote:Trying to utilize the Auction Ads code has created a problem

I have been able to "load the Code" on a Blog, but only successfully on a static page. Attempting to place it in a sidebar results in nothing being displayed. In both cases if not isn't clear I'm referring to the Auction ads code. This sort of thing might be better asked about on the WP Forums. if so just let me know.

Insert Auction Ads in your sidebar is no big deal, really if .......

You know at least some basic html.

Depending on what theme you're running, it requires you to directly edit a page or two in your blog's theme. Different themes have different requirements.

What theme are you using?

Are you hosting your WP blog on your own website versus hosting it somewhere on WP for free?

What version of WP is your website running?

Have you ever edited your theme directly before?

Here's a chunk of code that you would insert directly in the sidebar.php for your website.

=== code starts here ===

<table width="170" align="center" border="0">
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
auctionads_ad_client = "YourCodeWillGoHere";
auctionads_ad_campaign = "YourCodeWillGoHere";
auctionads_ad_width = "160";
auctionads_ad_height = "600";
auctionads_ad_kw = "rolex";
auctionads_color_border = "CFF8A3";
auctionads_color_bg = "FFFFFF";
auctionads_color_heading = "00A0E2";
auctionads_color_text = "000000";
auctionads_color_link = "008000";
auctionads_new_ad = "false";
<script type="text/javascript" src="">

=== code ends here ===

If you know html, all I did was take the code from Auction Ads for a 160x600 Wide Skyscraper ad unit and put it inside a table.

This code can be placed just about anywhere in your sidebar if you know html.

You can see an example of this particular ad unit here:

Don't hesitate to post again if you're still having problems. This should be fairly simple to do.
