Free, Targeted Advertising Network

Nick Mazza has started a free contextual advertising network. The site is called AdGridWork.com. In a nutshell, it is an advertising exchange network that uses contextual advertising to target the ads. It's sort of like mixing a link exchange with Google Adsense and providing it for free.

According to Mazza, AdGridwork currently has over 1000 sites on the network with around 600 of them serving in excess of 100 impressions a day. However, because they offer a wide range of categories and keyword targeting, there are certain niches that have fewer sites than others. The site launched December 1, 2006, and is slowly adding sites to the network (approximately 30 a day), with most being smaller blogs and startups. You can expect the targeting and quality of the sites to increase as the network expands and grows.

In addition, AdGridWork has verified that they are in compliance with Adsense regarding their new policy and what kind of sites are allowed. You just need to make sure that you take some steps to ensure that AdGridWork ads are distinguishable from Adsense ads.

It is important to point out that AdGridWork is in no way a competitor to Adsense or any other CPC/CPM advertising network. The primary purpose of AdGridWork is to help sites promote their content and spread the word about themselves. Mazza says, "In actuality, its probably a good thing to use our service in conjunction with Adsense (or any other PPC campaign) because:

AdGridWork = more traffic (hopefully
more traffic = the potential for more CPC conversions
more CPC conversions = more $$$

Thus, for the site that wants to donate a small portion of their page real estate to advertising, adgridwork.com provides a viable and simple method of converting this real estate into traffic."

The only title "Free Advertising Network" prompts to the mind that it doesn't work. Can't trust almost nothing that is free and promises great and fast result.

I don't see the money in it. Maybe I'm just naive, but then again, I've been around Internet marketing for a while.

The idea I see here is basically, you're doing an ad swap with other people, but you're not making money, just advertising your business to others and advertising other businesses on your site.... so yeah, an ad exchange. It's NOT what we think of when we hear "contextual advertising network."

Though true because it is still "contextual" but I know we all think of getting paid for publishing ads when we hear of contextual ad networks. I don't think it's going to get very far. That's just my guess.
