Link Directories or Links Page???

Which do you all find better that helps your linking strategy.... setting up a link directory on your site with appropriate categories or just using a regular page with links and descriptions in a listed format ??

I know the directories keep things more organized, but I'm not sure which is better for the visitor and for helping in an overall reciprocal linking strategy.

The directory is great because people can submit their own listing, which requires the reciprocal link to your site - and if you use LMA (Link Management Assistant) it will continue to check to make sure their link is still pointing to your site... and notify them before removing their listing if not. It's a great "hands off" way to set up your Link Strategy.

That said, I think it's even better if you also do much of your linking manually - and from your main pages, versus just your directory pages. What I generally do is scan my directory listings for links that are very relevant to some of my inner pages, and then write to the site owner to suggest exchanging higher quality links.

I recommend you spend the time and build a targeted human editted directory related to your site content or at least on the outer circle. Search engines look much more favorably on human edited directories rather than automated ones. I do not recommend linkmachine.net. If you're looking for a "good" automated reciprocal link exchange software i would investigate either http://linkautomate.com/ or http://www.autolinkspro.com/ (<--better)
