Since I found Google Trends a few days ago, I've had a blast comparing many of the markets I play in. Beyond looking at overall trends, be sure to consider seasonal trends that may affect your market.

I've got an affiliate site for snowboarding, but I was never sure when to stop and start the PPC campaigns I used to promote it. Well here you go, looks like the first week of April is the cutoff point - I was killing it at the end of February before...
