hello, new to web and everything that deals with it. i had an idea to make a web page, and signed up with 1and1 hosting. my question is with the plan i selected will i get bandwidth and web space with each site or will it be for the total of the 5 sites that come will my package. also what is sub-domain. see i told you i was new so please help me. thanks everybody on this great info site.

Welcome to the forum!
You want to check with your web host, but the total disk storage space and transfer bandwidth are most likely for the enitire account whether it is 1 site or 100 sites.
If your primary domain is something like: www.cemonline.com
a sub-domain would be something like: www.widgets.cemonline.com

Generally the bandwidth & disk space that comes with your account is the total amount that you get - so yes, that would be for all of the sites you develop on that account. Of course, most offer more than enough for any webmaster. By the time you go over those limits... you should be making enough money to open new accounts or upgrade your account without a second thought anyway.
