Done a lot of research. So far the best to choose from seem to be:
1- Hostgator
2- Hostmonster
3- Bluehost
4- Midphase
Anyone can offer some feedback as to which one would be suitable for multiple small niche sites?

Lots of people here swear by HostGator. I have heard lots of good about them. The only one on your list I have used is MidPhase and they are a good hosting company for sure. I have dropped them though due mostly to pricing and their subfolder for extra domains setup.
I am looking at moving a batch of sites and will go with Hostgator and/or Bluehost.
Looks like you have really done your homework! Since you are looking at multiple sites, you want to have a "reseller" account so you can add multiple domains, all with Cpanel.
Hope this helps.

If I am not mistaken ( it could happen ), hostgator also requires you to use subdomains for multiple domain names.

HostGator is my pick....I have used them for shared, reseller and dedicated....nothing but good things to say about them...
You can have a shared account with multiple (unlimited) top level domains (i.e. www. mysite. com, www. yoursite. com...all on one account.
