Godaddy and nameservers

As a follow on to my previous post... I found a place in GoDaddy to add an offsite DNS. I know I'm grasping at straws at this point when I did that. The GoDaddy tech said to just wait 24 - 48 hrs for it to propagate and that message I mentioned in the previous post will go away. That doesn't sound right. In their own systems, it should almost be immediate.

Although I see an IP address assigned in GoDaddy, when I go to Internic, or any other lookup site, it finds the domain but cannot find an IP address associated with it. But it does find the nameservers that GoDaddy assigned.

It still seems like there's an internal disconnect inside GoDaddy and I don't know what it is.
