Domain name close to one already registered

it is very doubtful that you have to worry about anything with this.

you might contact the owner of the other name and check them out to see if maybe they would sell it to you. be very low key about it, so they don't get all excited and think they can hold you up for a bunch of money.
if they have been sitting on it for five years, they apparently don't have much interest in it.

Given the date when this thread was started, another possibility is to talk
to your domain provider (hopefully it's a real domain registrar) and see if
they'll issue even if just a partial refund for deleting the domain name if
done within 120 hours (5 days) from when it was first registered. Very few
registrars offer this, although not all are compelled or required to do so.

Oh, yeah. I meant to give you guys an update. I just KNEW the name I had come up with was cool. I did some more searching to see if it was patented and it HAS recently been patented by a big toy company. I was indeed able to cancel the domain name and get my money back.
