Switching from PHPBB to vBulletin

One of my consulting clients recently asked me about this - I had bookmarked this thread when I was doing the research:

It does it appear that conversion scripts exists.

This client hasn't done anything yet, so I can't give you any firsthand advice.

I'm curious why you are considering the conversion...

I was just curious, actually. I really love the forums at Digital Point and V7N. I should check to see what kind of plug-ins are available for PHPBB first, because it's just specific features.

For example, I love how it displays your most recent blog post. I like how the User CP shows threads you are subscribed to that have new replies. Reputation points. Just a lot of little things like that.

Oh Heck ... Why not?

I guess I've gotten too comfy with using phpBB. I didn't really realize that DigitalPoint & V7N were actually vBulletin.

My initial dislike with vBulletin was awhile ago. I didn't like how it was setup on most of the vB forums, I guess. But looks like, as V7N & DigitalPoint have shown, vB has improved vastly. And the forums mentioned above have really done a GREAT job with the design & setup.

Whatever you do, though ... DON'T ever go with IKON!!!

I wont be doing anything before I head off to Boston anyway, but I've got some ideas brewing... so you never know what I might end up doing before the year is out
