phpBB technical question

I posted this question on the phpBB website but for some reason no one has responded.

Recently and rather frequently (once a day) I have been getting critical errors that resolve when I do a database repair.

Here's what I would like to know: If I set up a cronjob through my web server to repair the database, say, once every hour, could this somehow damage the database? Doing so would ensure that the forum would never be down for more than an hour, which is appealing (especially since I wouldn't have to check the site all the time), but I don't want do any irreparable damage to the database.

Hi Mindy. What is the exact nature of your critcal error problem? Does it say "Could not connect to the database?", "Could not get theme data for themes_id", etc.

Once you post what it is saying maybe some of us can help.

I have remedied a problem I was having with a purchased script by running a CRON job but I do not recommend it. Once we identify the problem we can determine if it is a configuration problem or Web host issue.
