Thanks Lynn for the great email with the same subject: "The Problem with Info Products..."

You (and the report you mention in your email) hit on a topic that's near and dear to my heart. Like many info marketers, I've followed the complicated "formula" and had some success, but have always wondered about doing things differently.

Having to justify higher prices for ebooks than for regular books is a challenge that often requires considerable copywriting skills... and longer sales letters -- especially in niches unrelated to internet marketing or making money.

I love the idea of doing simpler and cheaper ebooks/reports, and spending less time on the SELLING of them.

One of my pet peeves with info products about selling info products is that they make it sound so easy to create a product... but rarely explain the challenges in SELLING that product. If you can't do the latter (through traffic and conversion), it doesn't matter how wonderful the ebook is!

Does the report you're talking about in your email go into marketing the products?

Even if it doesn't, I'm sure it's an excellent resource and will scarf it up when I get to my home computer!

It's no secret that there is big money to be made online in
Info Products... This includes multimedia files, ebooks, reports

joint ventures, paid advertising campaigns, and affiliate programs to
set up. Then there are conversion rates, refunds, feedback and support.

And the Guru's will tell you to price your Info Product at $47, $97
or even $197 so that your affiliates will work harder to promote your
product for you. With most Info Products paying affiliates 50% of the
sale, you and your affiliate are earning $23.50 each on a $47 sale.

Is the product really worth $47 or is it worth $23.50? Is your pricing
point about perceived value, or actual value? Did you struggle to
over-deliver on the content in your Info Product so that it matches the
price point you selected?

What starts out as a simple idea to make money online - creating your
own Info Product - quickly snowballs into a huge project that takes you
six months to complete. During which time you are not earning money on
it, and can easily find yourself burned out on and second guessing the
potential ROI.
