PayDotCom vs ClickBank

Good points, Sylvia - and I'll look into the changes. I did notice that the referrals were going in as credits too, which means you need to become a merchant in order to benefit from these referrals.

We are using PayDotCom and really appreciate the subscription option (since our service is annual).

Also the no minimum is great and you can upload creative in case your affiliates don't know how, or can't do the same quality you could.

We also have our user info go straight to Aweber, that is a nice perk :O)

There are issues again at clickbank as of this past week.

I am seriously considering plimus.com, seems to be quite popular.

anyone been using them?

This is an old thread but the article is now somewhat out of date re only PDC supporting recurring...

Good news: ClickBank does allow recurring offerings (memberships etc.) now
Bad news: They don't accept paypal yet for recurring product payment.

PayDotCom charges $1-3 per transaction to use thier service. On the other hand a shopping cart like 1shoppingcart or KickStartCart (which both have affiliate modules)are $79/month. So for 100 ebooks would be about .79 per book instead of $1-3 per book. (The more you sell the more economical it would be)

PayDotCom uses Paypal or Stompay to process payments. So you have to pay them on top of PayDotCom. The comparison chart listed on PayDotCom does not include these fees for Paypal, which you can see here.

For me recruiting affiliates is not a priority right now, so I am sticking with Paypal Buy Now Buttons. Later in the year I will likely upgrade to one of the online shopping carts. (I have PayPal integrated with Aweber so there's instant delivery for digital products.)


Can someone tell the different between the free member and the paid ($100 plus) fee at PayDotcom. To me even though paydotcom look attractive there are some hidden fees that we must be careful of such as the one Sandra wrote above.

ALSO...
One thing I didn't like about PDC is hoe VERY VERY obvious the affiliate links look.

Sure CB links look obvious to people in IM ... but to your average pet lover probably not. PDC links however are in your face with the affiliate code, and thus it could easily be stripped off.

This makes cloaking much more important - and also the question of how long the PDC cookie remains valid once someone is taken to the sales page via PDC....

Seems to be a bit of a risk there.

You originally wrote this in 2005, and your last comment is in 2006. All these years later, I've just come across the site, and I have to say that I'm less than impressed, and actually don't trust them. I was wondering if you'd changed your opinion about it by now, or if you're still using them and still feel they're valuable for your business. Thanks.
