Script/software for list owners when getting free reports?

Postby Domain Name Guy » Mon Oct 11, 2004 4:11 pm

Hi guys!

I'm not really sure how to say this, but I'll be as specific as possible.

While I'm still working on my upcoming ebook, I've prepared a 4-5 part
autoresponder ecourse and decided to set it up on my site and promote
it to, at the very least, build a list.

Since many of you have large lists of your own, should you decide to
promote it to your own lists, I'm wondering if there's a script or
software that'll do the following:

1. Create an affiliate link of sorts that, when one of your subscribers
will opt-in in my list to get the free ecourse by signing under your
affilate link, it'll tell me where that person came from.

2. At a later time, when my ebook is ready and one of you decided to
promote it to your list, you get a commission, of course.

I think an affiliate management script or software will accomplish this,
although I'm not sure if it will do the trick.

Again, I'm not really sure how to label this, although I think "affiliate"
is the closest thing to describing what I'm looking for.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

OK ... this may sound a bit complicated but bare with me for a while. And you also may need to do some coding for implementations or pay somebody to implement this for you ...

Anyway, here's how you can have it done ...

Most autoresponders, even remote hosted, would allow you to create CUSTOM fields. What it does is, instead of just storing name and email, you can also make the subscriber enter a few more infos like country or gender or anything.

So, you can also store referrer to the subscriber. Of course, you don't want to have the subscriber enters that by themselve. You want to have it automated. What you can do is use the HIDDEN input, and with some coding, you insert the value to that yourself.

If is assuming that your affiliates have unique URL to refer subscribers to. For example, I may be referring visitors to your site using a URL like

In, it will automatically builds a subscription form, with a hidden input, for a custom field that you defined in your autoresponder, which says something like ...

<input name="referrer" value="kidino">

Get back to me if there's any part of this that you don't understand. If you do, then you can just straight away have it implemented or post a job at Elance / RentACoder

Does this helps?
