First, you should never "guess" what people are searching. Use one of the keyword research tools available online to find out exactly what people are searching for - and how.

You can use the free trial version of - this is the one that I use myself and can recommend.

I would start there...

Another thing to consider is that you want your keywords to be as specific to your offer as possible. Dont use general keywords or general phrases... find phrases that people are actually using to search specifically for the type of thing you are offering through your ads. The more your Ad matches their search, the better your CTR.

Yes, I agree to Lynn and Sandra.

Here's some more suggestions:

1. Don't dump many keywords in one Adgroup. I even suggest you to get started with one keyword per one Adgroup. Use exact, broad and phrase matches, so you can see how people search, etc. If advertising bugdet is not a problem for you, try to bid as high as possible in the beginning. This will increase your CTR instantly. Later after your ad copy improves, you should reduce the bids and try to achieve at least 1.0% CTR.

2. Always set up at least 2 ads in each Adgroup. Delete the one that is not performing. You can test your ads at http://www.splittester.com for free.

3. Analyze your competition ads and use some ideas in your own ads.

4. Try to include your keywords in ad copy. These keywords will become bold in your ad copy and this will increase your CTRs.

5. Try to use {KeyWord: Default title} in the title of your ads. What it means? I explain that in my Adwords course (see my sig).

6. Use negative keywords as Sandra suggested.

7. Don't start a new Adgroup until you are happy with your first one!

I hope this will help you to get started. ;-)
