How does google charge confused

Looking into ppc advertising, and quite not sure how is that they charge.

When one places ads in google, how does it work.

When someone types in a main keyword that I am using in the ad, and somone types the keyword in the ad comes up is that correct.

Ok now that the ad has come up on the right side of page, am I already paying for the ad anytime it is displayed on the right side.

How about when someone clicks on the ad, I also pay every time someone clicks on ad.

Need help in understanding how they charge me for their service!

It is Pay Per Click, meaning you pay only for clicks. You choose the keywords your ad will be associated with. When someone does a search for that keyword phrase, your ad will show. IF they click on it, you are charged the price you bid per click when setting up the ad.

When you start a Google campaign, just be sure to keep a close eye on things - it can get quite expensive, so be careful!
