Google XML Sitemap link not showing on my homepage

Postby SylviaC » Wed May 06, 2009 9:32 am

I installed the Google XML Sitemap plugin on my wordpress site. I activated it in my dashboard but it's not showing up on my home page. Can anyone think of a reason why this would happen?

I appreciate any help you can offer.

that plugin doesn't actually show up in your menu or anything, it's nothing but to notify google or others you have a sitemap.xml file which has all your posts and such in it.

if you want a Sitemap, with all your posts on it, in your menu of your blog use this plugin and add a new page, with the following in the content

Plugin Name: Dagon Design Sitemap Generator
Link: http://www.dagondesign.com/articles/sit ... wordpress/

Content to post: <!-- ddsitemapgen -->

also, the plugin your using is important, keep it. also make sure www.yoursiteurl.com/sitemap.xml is working, if not go to that plugins settings page, and generate a sitemap, and then it should work, if /sitemap.xml doesn't show up. This sitemap generator is for xml sitemaps.

I have transferred the sitemap plugin to my plugin folder of my WP site but it doesn't show up on my actual website homepage either. Other than activate it I didn't know if there was something else I needed to do.

ok, confirm you have added the plugin: Dagon Design Sitemap Generator

if so,

then you need to do two things

1: go to the settings page of that plugin, and setup the settings.

2: go to create a new page in your menu!, New Page: and place the code

<!-- ddsitemapgen -->

in it,

I always name my page Sitemap, which makes the URL, /sitemap/ or however your permalinks are setup.

if you have further trouble, I will be back online later this evening, and can chat over msn if you have msn, and can get you straight on this.

my msn is: chris.boaze@hotmail.com
