What's your favorite Wordpress theme?

Do you have a favorite Wordpress theme? (free or paid is fine) I'm just curious what everyone likes and what their favorite features might be.

I'm using one of the original Revolution themes by Brian Gardner. I can't say it's my favorite since Brian has come out with so many new ones, but it works well for my site. If I had to choose a new theme, I'd stick with something Brian created because the themes are super easy to work with and he keeps them updated.

I'm using a free theme on Genesis Blogging that I like ok - will be changing that here soon. I'm using one of the Revolution 2 themes on one of my others sites, like that okay. Can't say I have a favorite. It depends on the needs of the site as to what I use. I'm always looking - as there are so many themes out there.

I will probably get WP-Remix next. ;)

I'm currently using WP-Remix now (tknoppe, try it. It's good).

But my all time favorite is Cutline. I have used it before. It is so easy to customize and also is very SEO friendly.

Judging a "Good" theme?

Postby createyourdream » Thu Apr 09, 2009 2:14 pm

I'm working with the Tweaker theme, and I'm finding it a little challenging tech wise. I set a goal to learn this stuff from the gate, so I want to stick with designing it from scratch.

So far, I've just had a lot of fun adding widgets and plug-ins, not content yet, the link is www.stressfreeideas.com/now I like the white space, big lettering.

I'm finding more and more I can't always make out the font on many blogs that I would like to read from the computer screen. I know I can zoom, but sometimes it distorts other things while reading. It's probably just a personal thing, but I'd like to accommodate others that may experience that too.

Best for now,
Mary

At the moment I periodically switch between the Free Semiologic Theme snd the Gear Theme(also Free). There is also a free Theme which allows considerable Tweaking without having to mucks around in the WP code and in any case probably best left for a second or third try(Atahualpa is the name, possibly available at BFA WP Forum or they can direct you to it's download). Do a google search for Atahualpa Theme for WordPress if interested. You will have to tweak it before activating it.

The First two themes mentioned, minor tweaking is needed prior to activating. Blog on!

How are you finding free themes these days? The old WordPress.org theme directory worked much better for me for searching. I can't seem to search very well on the new one. And a Google search just leads me to hundreds sites and endless looking. LOL!

Well posting in threads like this works to get links LOL ; but also try posting on Twitter, I often see tweets come through to posts on the Top 10 WordPress Themes... stuff like that, or just ask! Gotta love Twitter for getting information fast & more focused than Google, because you're also getting personal recommendation along with it. ;)

When they first put the new directory up it had tags and categories listed on the side. They took that off, and now it's just a bugger of a thing to search! I can barely stand to look there anymore.

I'm with you, I get sucked into the endless looking at all the hundreds of free sites and sorting through the fluff and the shiny themes. It can turn into a timesuck fast.

Three of my sites are using John P.'s (Pozadzides) free theme, Rapid Access - http://onemansblog.com/2007/04/30/free- ... id-access/

I really like it, been singing its praises for a couple years, actually! John updates it periodically (though not as often nowadays, since he came out of retirement) and he is very helpful.

The coding is a little different, but, once you get the hang of it - no problem. Plus, John has notes within the code to help you out!

(But yes, I can definitely get lost 'theme-shopping'!!)

I like WooThemes, they have quite a few very different and versatile themes. I am using Livewire at Step by Step Fundraising. My husband recently created a new website for our church using Newsport.

Premium Themes are also good. I'm using Simple Site Theme on a couple of my blogs.

I love Thesis premium theme. I use it for my blog. They have great, active support forums. It's also got great SEO built right in.
