I'd really like to hear the answers to this also. When Kara and I started our blog we kind of "jumped in". (With some reasearch but...) We have ours hosted at Blogger.com because it seemed like the most easiest and reasonable source at the time. I often wonder of the difference it would make if we had hosted with our own BUT...since we share the blog...it still seems the most sensible.

If you have a blog that is - well, just a blog (separate from any of your websites) - and you dont plan to add customized scripts or additions - then forwarding the domain name to your Blog would suffice, correct?
And are there any drawbacks (esp SEO-wise) to forwarding the domain vs publishing the Blog to a paid host?

Lynn, one problem with forwarding a domain that doesn't break is that people can't deep link to your blog easily. Personally, even if you have a blog as a hobby and nothing more, I would say shell out for the hosting.
