Your welcome and since Teli sells Optiniche (a customized wordpress package) I will defer to her as to any possibilty of automating the "More" process. NOTE:Actually it was Teli who did the heavy lifting on this project and as usual she over delivered. Or at the very least promptly delivered the needed information. You might take a peek at http://www.optiniche.com either for now or bookmark it for possible future purchase.

Hi Gronesy,
There's a plugin called which will automatically truncate the post after the first paragraph or two.
If you prefer to have the excerpt displayed and not a teaser (surprisingly, they are two different things -- the teaser is the text that appears before the break created by the more tag), then you'd need to edit your index.php template file to replace <php the_content(); ?> with <?php the_excerpt(); ?>.
IMO, the plugin is your safest bet and you don't need to worry about mucking with code in the event you ever want to switch back.
