I know this has been touched on before, and often the answer is "Dont go with a free service, get your own hosting and use Wordpress"

BUT

If you cant afford hosting, then what is the very best free blogging service? and why?

Unless they have made drastic changes, they are much more lenient than WordPress.com

I like Blogger. I've been using it for over a year.
It's easy and really convenient.
Too bad for me, I haven't been able to figure out how to move the content to my own domain......

Blogger, by all means.

Wordpress is stringent on the "commercial use" of their free blogs, and I have actually had a blog with 94 posts on it eliminated because of that.

The violation was my posts were "too commercial" in nature.

Because they had a marketing message behind them.

I'm using blogger and it works for me. One of these days I would like to switch to wordpress but for now blogger is best for me at this time.

I would go with blogger if you want to be with a free service. To make blogger more interesting:

1. Get a domain name
2. host it at blogger
3. get a unique theme (jackbook.com is the site I used to go to get themes for blogger. He converts the WordPress themes to blogger).


This will make your blogger blog interesting like WordPress though it cannot really beat WordPress :)
