Which Ping Services to use?

Postby Sandra » Thu Oct 04, 2007 5:58 pm

I've always just had the Ping-o-matic listed in the "update services" box in Wordpress. I happened to notice a link to the that has other ping sites listed. Just wondering if anyone knows, if it's worthwhile to ping any of these other places?

Sandra,

Well...keep pinging, because it still performs an important function when it comes to blogging, but because everyone is doing it...it just doesn't provide the edge it used to.

Social sites are a good way to market your blog.

Digg.com, Squidoo, del.icio.us, and more...

But...here is a good way to get started for FREE...

Read The Authority Black Book by Jack Humphrey.

Enjoy !

:?: Once you start pinging a new blog, more or less how long does it take to get indexed in the search engines?

Pinging helps update blog services, like Technorati, search your blog for updated posts and information.

When you do that...they update their version of your blog. That informs the readers of Technorati or other services of your new posts.

You can usually get your site indexed (picked up) in the major search engines in a matter of 5-10 days with solid incoming links from established websites - if not much sooner. Have you looked in Google to see if your site is there at all?
