Thirdsphere Autoresponder Question

Postby Jason Moffatt » Tue Dec 27, 2005 6:05 pm

Hello Self Starters,

I have a question that I hope someone (most likely Lynn)
can answer.

I'm curious about the autoresponder service that is offered
with the Thirdsphere hosting package. I already host a few
site with Thirdsphere but have not used the autoresponders
yet.

Currently I am using Aweber, and Salesautomater. However,
I will soon hit the 10,000 limit on each and was wondering if
I should try using the autoresponder on Thirdsphere instead
of paying more with Aweber and Salesautomater?

Lynn, anybody, have you used the autoresponders with
Thirdsphere? And if so, are there any drawbacks? Considering
it's free it seems a better move then paying more with Aweber
or Salesautomater, but just thought I would get another opinion.

Thanks much.

Good question, Jason!

I havent actually tried ThirdSphere's mailing list or autoresponder features. The number one reason is because they dont allow you to import subscribers, and I already had my lists started when I switched to their hosting service. They dont allow it to prevent spam complaints on their mailservers - they want all subs to double opt-in (without a question).

Outside of that, I have had a bad experience using my hosts mailservers in the past. Not with ThirdSphere, mind you, but I got the impression that most hosts were not experts at email marketing... and just included the third party scripts as a service to their customers. The biggest problem that I had was that your mailservers are generally shared with hundreds (if not thousands) of other hosting customers. And those mailservers tend to get blacklisted by major ISPs fairly easily.

Not to mention the scripts got quirky on me once my lists got up to 800 subs or more. Once I moved to Aweber, I decided to stick with it.
